Florida

I am sitting in a hotel room in Lakeland, Fla. Why? Well it started back in January when my mother emailed me and said "I sure wish I could get down there and you could take me to one of Michaela's basketball games!" A little background information for my one faithful reader, Michaela is my brother Brian's daughter. She plays basketball for Florida Southern College. When Brian was in high school he played basketball and mom was his biggest fan. Now, with a granddaughter playing basketball she is beside herself with excitement. She listens to her games on the computer religiously. So, I said "Mom why can't you come down and both of us go to the game?" She said "Oh I can't leave Ralph (stepdad who cannot travel)." So, I talked to my sister and asked her if she would go and stay with Ralph for mom, she agreed. So I asked mom "What if we got someone to stay with Ralph and what if one of your granddaughters came to get you to take you to the airport?" She said "Well maybe we could do that." Then I said "Mom why don't you ask your sister JoAnne to fly down here with you and I will meet you in Florida." So, she talked to Ralph, talked to her Pastor, talked to my sister and her sister and decided that she could actually do this. We were going to meet in Tampa and then drive to Lakeland. Ralph said "Todd (brother who lives in BR) will feel left out you better fly to Baton Rouge first then fly to Tampa." So, Mom and Aunt JoAnne told me to make the reservation. I did! Then Aunt JoAnne's two daughters (Barb & Karen) decided to meet us also. Yippee, I haven't seen my cousins in many many years. Then Aunt JoAnne fell and broke her leg. First words out of her mouth "I am still going!" As time got closer Aunt JoAnne needed surgery and the doctor told her she could not travel. I was sort of panicking because this airline ticket was on my credit card and Delta was saying they weren't going to reimburse me. They may change their minds due to the fact that I do have the doctor's note and everything. Mom decided to treat my sister to a flight south and I booked her flight via my credit card. There are 4 tickets on my credit card and Stanley is having a fit.

I have been having a hard time signing into my blog so that is why there are no postings. Now these postings are not on the same blog so I am not sure what is going on. I am not real good with this blog thing. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. How do I integrate the old blog with the new blog?

Mardi Gras

It is Mardi Gras time here in Baton Rouge. As will all Baton Rougeans, going to a parade is the thing to do. Wesley is no different, he thinks going to a Mardi Gras parade is the best thing you can do. I asked him if he wanted to go skiing next year during Mardi Gras time and he said "Sure, when all of the parades are over. " Kids here get a whole week of vacation at Mardi Gras. So in honor of Mardi Gras here are some things you will see at a Mardi Gras parade. This is from the Spanishtown parade and the theme is pink flamingos and the more X-rated the better. Since this is a family blog I have left some of the X-rated stuff off.
